We’d like to let you know that one of our creative partners in all things culture and talent management, Kreativekornerr, did something big for South African music and pop culture this past week.
If you don’t yet know who Uncle Waffles is, she is 21-year-old Lungelihle Zwane and she pretty much broke the internet this past week with a single 90-second video 👇🏽

Hailing from Swaziland, 21-year-old Lungelihle decided to pick up DJing during the pandemic. She dubbed herself Uncle Waffles. After some time she got noticed by Zeus and Thato of Kreativekornerr and got offered to play a set just last week when another DJ could not make it. One social media-posted video of that set later, she racked up 2M views in about 3 days, was followed by Drake, featured on Complex UK, and got invited to BBC1 Radio to discuss the madness of it all.

Congratulations to Thato, Zeus, Lebo and the rest of the Kreativekornerr team for shining a light on how to champion our youth’s exponential potential. It is a privilege and an honour to be building Bettr with you! On and up 🔥
While we wait for that Uncle Waffles mix, here’s a playlist to this edition of The Weekender built off another of Kreativekornerr’s rising stars: Slade. Enjoy👇🏽

Can Service Delivery debate deliver us from the very real, very connected, impacts of a centuries-deep architecture of inequality?
Unlikely – for as long as we are unable to appreciate the many factors –past and present – that have led us to where we are today. The devil is not in finding one factor to dominate them all. The devil is in the details we turn a blind eye to in pursuit of a version of individual freedom that does not implicate us in the lack of freedom of others.

This Weekender is dedicated to getting out of the moshpit of electioneering and into a wider, more sober perspective of history. We start by introducing some characters and concepts that are usually left out of the current arm-wrestling between a f(l)ailing leadership and a clingy past. We also look at the policies that have helped hold together one of the longest marriages in history: that of business and politics 🤵👰
